Clark County Fire & Rescue, the Battle Ground Police Department and other local fire and law enforcement agencies participated in training exercises at the old Vancouver Clinic building at 2005 W. Main St. in Battle Ground.

The training week culminated when the building was burned down Nov. 13 to gather information for fire and law enforcement personnel for future incidents.

Local photographer Nick Grier noticed the fire on his drive home and stopped to snap a few photos.

Grier reports that more than 100 people watched the burn from the sidewalk.

“The heat was nearly unbearable to face at several points once the building was engulfed,” he said in an e-mail. “The poor old building burned down to a pile of ashes on the foundation.”
