The Columbian
Published: November 4, 2010, 12:00am

When, where: 7:30 p.m. Friday, French Field, Kent.

Internet radio: www.carlclick.com

Records: Kentwood (9-0); Heritage (3-6); 4A state preliminary round.

AP state rankings: Kentwood No. 4; Heritage unranked

Kentwood notes: The Conquerors completed their first unbeaten regular season. … RB Mikell Everett has rushed for 1,003 yards on the season, including 249 against Kentridge last week. … Starting QB Shane Green has missed the past two games after being suspended for a district athletic code violation. … Green is appealing the suspension. … A hearing was held last Friday, but no decision has been reached. There is no timetable on when a resolution of the process will be reached. … Sophomore QB Dane Manio is 9 for 17 for 283 yards, 3 TDs and 2 INTs in past two games.

Heritage notes: Clinched playoff berth with 31-21 win over Evergreen. … Timberwolves have won back-to-back games. … Three of Heritage’s losses where by a touchdown or less. … QB Jake Dahlberg passes for 283 yards and 3 TDs and ran for 120 in three quarters against Evergreen before suffering an ankle injury. He was on crutches at the end of the game. His status for this week’s game is uncertain. … Riley O’Dell, who split QB duties with Dahlberg this year, will play if Dahlberg is unable. … O’Dell passed for 1,653 yards and 9 TDs this season … Ben Lyons is the leading receiver with 50 catches for 779 yards and 3 TDs.

The Columbian’s take: Both teams head into this game uncertain about their starting QB. Both have capable backups. Heritage can erase a frustrating season with a win, but Kentwood’s defense and ground attack is too strong. PICK: Kentwood.
