Volunteer Chore Services of Clark/Skamania and Cowlitz Counties has received a $9,550 grant from the Community Giving Fund of the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington. The money is dedicated to volunteer driver training, recruitment and retention.
VCS keeps low-income elders and disabled adults in their homes for as long as safely possible. Help is provided for those who cannot afford to pay for long-term care, do not qualify for assistance elsewhere, or do not have family and friends available to lend a hand.
Services include driving to the store or medical appointments, running errands, cleaning the home or making repairs, cutting and delivering wood for heating, working in the yard, or providing personal care. VCS also offers clients assistance with phoning, reading and writing.
VCS is a program of Catholic Community Services, the largest local private provider of assistance to poor and vulnerable people in Washington. To learn more, visit http://www.ccsww.org.
