Katheryn B. “Kay” Hill always tried to see the good in things and forget about the bad. Her daughter, Bev Clark, is trying to do the same thing.

Clark’s mother had a wonderful party as she celebrated her 102nd birthday April 24. There were about 100 family members and friends at Hill’s birthday party including her brother, Dick Beckham, 95, who flew in from Utah to attend the festivities.

Hill loved to dance and wanted to dance with her pastor, the Rev. Christopher Nolte, one more time, Clark said. Hill got her wish and she enjoyed every minute of the dance.

The day after her party, Hill and her brother were walking to look at the Columbia River when she fell. She broke her femur and was taken to the hospital. After surgery, her health deteriorated and she died May 1.

Clark said she was very happy her mother got to have the party she wanted. She also got to have a good visit with her brother and see all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
