The Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce membership has elected three new members to the board of directors: Winston Asai, vice president and chief financial officer of Columbia Machine; Jonathan Avery, chief administrative officer of Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center; and Kristy Weaver, senior vice president and Southwest Washington team leader of Pacific Continental Bank. The three new directors will serve three-year terms.

Jim Martin, chief investment officer of the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, has been named 2010 Small Foundation Manager of the Year by Institutional Investor. The award winners were chosen by the magazine’s editorial board .

Andy Nygard, of Edward Jones in Vancouver, was recently honored as one of the firm’s top financial advisers at the company’s managing partners conference at its headquarters office in St. Louis. Nygard, who has worked for Edward Jones since 1992, was honored as one of 350 top producers out of more than 11,000 consultants working for the firm. The event also was an opportunity for company leaders to collaborate with the firm’s best advisers, focusing on strategies to serve client needs.

New business news

• The Enchanted Gift Shop opened May 1, in the space formerly occupied by Music First, at 502 Washington St. Owners are Gail Wickwire and Jody Maxwell of Vancouver. The store carries whimsical gift items and a tea room stocked with loose-leaf teas.

• Swoon Antiques Salon, owned by Kimberly Shults, opened in February at 1305 Washington St. The salon, formerly located on Alberta Street in Portland, sells modern and vintage clothing for women, jewelry, furniture, art and decor. Hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. http://www.swoonantiques.com.

• MetLife of Vancouver has been named Financial Planning Firm of the Year by MetLife Inc. Each year MetLife selects one firm from among its financial planning firms nationwide. Richard Cederberg is the managing director of the local office.

• Vancouver’s Elguji Software LLC was named a finalist in International Business Machines Corp.’s Beacon Awards for its IdeaJam software, said Bruce Elgort, Elguji president and chief executive officer. IdeaJam software makes it possible for people to post and share ideas as well as gauge their marketability using the participants’ input. The software’s purpose is to help groups sift through and identify their best ideas. Elguji won the award in the innovative collaboration category in 2009. Elguji, which was founded in 2007, creates and sells social networking software.
