Firefighters knocked down a small fire inside a Hazel Dell-area automotive repair shop shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Vancouver Fire Department spokesman.

The fire at Super Tune, 3108 N.E. 65th St., was reported at 10:53 a.m. It originated around a workbench, but the exact cause is not yet determined, said Jim Flaherty, firefighter-spokesman.

The business was closed for several hours because the power was shut off, but was expected to be back in operation later Wednesday.

Damage was preliminarily estimated at $20,000. Most of the damage was caused by heavy smoke. When firefighters arrived, it was within three to five feet of the floor, Flaherty said.

An adjoining business, Foes & Sullivan Builders, had minor smoke damage. Firefighters used a fan to eject it. A business on the other side, R-2 Manufacturing, was undamaged.

All three businesses were temporarily evacuated as firefighters worked.

There were no injuries reported, although one individual was examined on scene for smoke inhalation.

Clark County Fire District 6 also responded to the fire.
