SALMON CREEK — Carl Talton, chief executive officer of the Portland Family of Funds, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fall 2010 MBA Social Issues in Business Speaker Series at Washington State University Vancouver.

Free and open to the public, the lecture will be held in the Undergraduate Classroom building, Room 1.

Talton will discuss how Portland Family of Funds creates opportunities for profitable investments while enhancing social and environmental issues in his presentation, “Socially Responsible Investing: Integrating Investors, Creditors, Community and Values.”

He has served as an executive with both Portland General Electric and Pacific Power, is a former chairman of the Portland Development Commission and currently serves as a commissioner with the Oregon Economic and Community Development Commission.

Joseph Cote, WSUV professor of marketing, promotes the event as a great way for students to understand the importance of considering social and stakeholder topics when making business decisions.

The MBA series brings business leaders to campus once a semester to highlight and discuss corporate social responsibility efforts with faculty, students and community members.

WSUV is at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the junction of Interstate 5 and Interstate 205.
