A Hazel Dell man whose skull was fractured by a -vacuum cleaner allegedly wielded by his girlfriend was doing better Thursday.

Todd D. Proetel, 41, was reported in satisfactory condition Thursday at Southwest Washington Medical Center.

Proetel was injured Tuesday evening after what sheriff’s deputies described as a domestic dispute in a dilapidated trailer he shares with Michelle D. Hawn at Callaham’s Mobile Manor, 10804 N.E. Highway 99.

According to court documents, the couple began arguing. Hawn grabbed a Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner and allegedly hit Proetel in the head, then left him, bloody and unconscious, on the kitchen floor.

She told deputies that he had assaulted her, but deputies didn’t find any evidence. She was in the Clark County Jail today in lieu of $100,000 bail. She is accused of first-degree assault-domestic violence.
