A 24-year-old man was injured early Saturday after his car struck a tree in a yard in Vancouver’s Bagley Downs neighborhood.
Alcohol was believed to have been involved in the crash, police said.
Just after midnight, police and firefighters responded to the 5200 block of Plomondon Street. The unidentified man’s vehicle had gone off the road, hitting a tree in a residential yard, said Vancouver firefighter-spokesman Kevin Murray.
Firefighters extricated the man, and he was rushed with serious injuries to a local hospital, Murray said.
His name and condition weren’t available Saturday afternoon.
Fire in duplex may have started in exhaust fan
Firefighters responded to a duplex fire Saturday afternoon in east Vancouver, possibly sparked by an overheated exhaust fan.
A neighbor called to report the fire just after 1 p.m. at 10917 N.E. 48th St. Firefighters responded and found damage in the laundry room, the bathroom and a portion of the kitchen, said Murray.
None of the residents were home.
Fire investigators believe the fire may have started from an overheated exhaust fan in the laundry room.
The fire caused $20,000 in damage and displaced at least two people living there, who will now be staying with family, Murray said.
Stove fire causes $10,000 in damage
A kitchen fire Saturday morning caused $10,000 in damage to a home in the Sherwood neighborhood.
Vancouver firefighters were called to the home at 11305 N.E. 48th Ave. at 9:47 a.m. The fire had started from the stove, and firefighters quelled the blaze before it reached the attic, said Murray.
No one was injured, Murray said.
