Will the ash hurt the baby?

I was in Enumclaw with our van club – Rain City Vans – attending a “truck in.”

Sunday morning, we heard about the volcano.

We had planned to leave Enumclaw and head north to Anacortes to visit family.

As we drove, the ash was thick in the air. The radio was reporting continuously.

Our baby, Dalton, was only 3 months old, and I was worried about him breathing the ash filled air. I kept wondering if anyone knew what damage it would do to a little baby. It’s not like volcanoes erupt very often!

We tied a cloth diaper bandit style (think bad cowboys) over his little face.

My husband was worried about the car, and I remember something about the air filter. I was not thinking about the car!

When we drove home a couple of days later, there was thick ash all over our home in Camas. It was such an unreal experience.
