HONORS

Marine Corps Pfc. Christopher Mangan, son of Danna Lynn Mangan of Vancouver, graduated from the honor platoon on Oct. 30. He is a 2009 graduate of Battle Ground High School and was a member of the police explorer program.

DUTY ASSIGNMENTS

Air Force Staff Sgt. Christopher E. Brown has arrived for duty at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, as a member of Joint Task Force-Bravo. Brown is a firefighter with seven years of military service. He is the brother of Nickolas and Jessica Brown of Vancouver, and a 2001 graduate of Heritage High School.

BASIC TRAINING

Members of the Air Force with local ties have completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. They are: Reserve Airman Tristan D. Barton, son of James and Linda Barton of Ridgefield; Reserve Airman 1st Class Madeleine N. Farrow, daughter of Olga Farrow of Vancouver and Mark Farrow of Texas, and a 2006 graduate of Evergreen High School; Airman Luke A. Sawyer, son of Jerry and Cheryl Sawyer of Vancouver and a 2007 graduate of Prairie High School.

These soldiers in the Army have completed basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.: Reserve Pfc. Cory R. Bannan, son of Azaleen Gonzalez of Vancouver, a 2006 graduate of Columbia River High School and 2008 graduate of Clark College; Spec. Jeffrey A. Collins, son of Gregory Collins of Camas, a 1998 graduate of Camas High School and 2004 graduate of Washington State University, Pullman.

Marines with local ties have recently completed Marine Corps recruit training. They are: Pvt. Eric W. Folnsbee, a 2009 graduate of Evergreen High School and the son of Doug and Kim Folnsbee of Vancouver. He will attend Communications School at Twentynine Palms, Calif. Pfc. Tyler L. Frongillo, son of Marina A. Frongillo of Vancouver. He will attend the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Pfc. Antonio D. Marino, a 2008 graduate of Hudson’s Bay High School and the son of Susan D. Marino of Vancouver. He will attend Avionics School at Pensacola, Fla.

These sailors in the Navy have recently completed basic training at Great Lakes, Ill.: Seaman Apprentice Nicholas A. Bush, a 2007 graduate of Fort Vancouver High School; Seaman Recruit Joseph A. Ganassin, son of Betty A. King of Battle Ground; Seaman Apprentice Randy R. Morales, a 2007 graduate of Prairie High School and the son of Daphne and Anthony Alexander of Battle Ground.
