Courtyard Village Apartments residents on Dec. 10 started cleaning up the grounds and removing everything that had been left outside, including personal possessions such as a barbecue grill, after residents were given notice to vacate. The Vancouver City Council unanimously approved three ordinances Monday night designed to protect vulnerable, low-income renters. The ordinances will give renters more time to find new housing when told to vacate or told that rent is increasing, and would prevent landlords from refusing to rent to people based on their source of income.
