Prep highlights: Skyview girls win 4A district golf title
Tuesday, May 13, 2008 By Columbian Sports StaffThe Skyview girls golf team claimed the 4A district title Monday, with four golfers advancing to today’s final round at Lewis River Golf Course.
Skyview’s Avery Collura leads the individual battle, shooting a 5-over-par 78.
Prairie’s Anna Jenks is one shot back at 79.
Helping the Storm’s winning team score of 353, Sara Taylor is in third with a first-day 85, Suzanne Patterson is sixth (88), and Jessica Johannson is 13th (102).
Prairie finished second in the team chase with 367, and Battle Ground was third at 368.
The final round for the top 15 individuals begins at 10 a.m. today.
The top seven individuals advance to the 4A state tournament, May 20-21 at Sudden Valley Golf Course in Bellingham.
Girls tennis
Skyview’s Brittany Ellingsen defeated Julie Christen of Mountain View 6-2, 7-6 (3), for second place at the 4A District Tournament, held at the Vancouver Tennis Center.
Ellingsen advances to a playoff match with District 2 for a spot in the 4A state tournament, May 23-24 also at Vancouver Tennis Center. |
