Woman jailed in embezzling inquiry
Tuesday, July 22, 2008 By JOHN BRANTON, Columbian staff writerA 34-year-old woman was in the Clark County Jail on Monday, a day after being arrested for allegedly embezzling more than $5,000 while working as a bookkeeper for Quality Landscapes.
Amy Fuller was arrested on suspicion of seven counts each of forgery and second-degree theft, according to a bulletin from the Ridgefield Police Department.
She was being held on $5,000 bail and is to appear in court this morning, a jail employee said.
Ridgefield police began an investigation in March after receiving a complaint that dated to last year.
Prosecutors allege Fuller issued checks totaling more than $5,000 to herself, calling them payroll advances and expenses, without permission from the owner.
She also stands accused of issuing a company check for $860 to Columbia Collections to pay off her own debt, the bulletin said.
Authorities allege she listed checks as being paid to other businesses, to make it appear they were legitimate.
Fuller was arrested at her Vancouver home Sunday, on warrants obtained by the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office, the bulletin said.
Motorcyclist improves
Daryl Wick, 32, a Montana motorcyclist who was injured in a collision with an SUV on Friday, has been upgraded from critical condition to serious condition at Portland’s Legacy Emanuel Hospital.
His passenger, 26-year-old Jennifer Kenworthy of Oregon, was listed in good condition at Emanuel, a nursing supervisor said Monday evening.
About 5:35 p.m. Friday, Wick was driving the motorbike in the 12400 block of Northeast Fourth Plain Road in Orchards when the driver of a
Ford Explorer pulled out of a parking lot and the vehicles collided, Vancouver police said.
