A 24-year-old woman was listed in critical condition in intensive care at Southwest Washington Medical Center on Friday, one day after a car she rode in collided with another car near Battle Ground.
Kiana Silva, a resident of Arizona, initially was trapped in a Mazda sedan in the crash at Northeast 92nd Avenue and 249th Street, said Deputy James Payne with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Rescuers with Clark County Fire & Rescue used hydraulic tools to free her and the driver of the other car.
The driver of the Mazda, Ryan Tompkins, 26, of Vancouver had been driving north at excessive speed shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday when he lost control on a curve, Payne said.
The Mazda rotated on the road and was hit on its passenger side by a southbound Toyota Camry driven by Christine Fout, 29, of Battle Ground.
Tompkins and Fout were treated at a hospital and released, Payne said.
A sample of Tompkin’s blood was drawn to determine whether he was intoxicated. No one was immediately arrested or ticketed; the case is under investigation by the sheriff’s Traffic Unit.
