Clark County's population growth cools off; Battle Ground is now No. 2
Wednesday, July 02, 2008 By JEFFREY MIZE Columbian Staff WriterA cool economy might be dousing some of Clark County’s sizzling growth as our population increased by 2.2 percent over a 12-month period, the third smallest percentage increase in the past 10 years.
Clark County had 424,200 people as of April 1, according to population estimates the Washington Office of Financial Management released Wednesday.
Battle Ground added another 470 people during the 12-month period, April 2007 to April 2008, and surged ahead of Camas to become the county’s second biggest city.
Battle Ground, with 16,710 residents, now has 10 more people than its neighbor to the south. |
