A student-led rally is planned for this afternoon outside the Ridgefield School District office to help persuade district leaders to return students in all grades to in-person learning.

Students plan to organize at 3 p.m. at the district office, located at 510 Pioneer St. The primary focus of the rally surrounds secondary grades and requesting the school board to communicate a plan for in-person learning options for students in grades 6-12, according to a press release.

“We are concerned that our student voices are not being heard,” the press release reads, in part. “Nobody is asking students what they need, and listening to their voices. The intention of the rally is to bring together students and community members that believe ALL grade levels of students need an option for in-person learning.”

The district welcomed kindergarten students into a hybrid in-person setting Jan. 5 with more elementary grade levels scheduled for a hybrid setting later this month.
