Union’s Tanner Toolson named Mr. Basketball by state coaches association

La Center's Hunter Ecklund is the Class 1A state player of the year

Union senior Tanner Toolson has been named Mr. Basketball for the state of Washington by the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association, according to WIBCA president Joe Harris.

Toolson was the 4A Greater st. Helens League MVP, averaging 23.1 points a game for the 24-0 Titans.

Toolson led Union to the No. 1 seed to the Class 4A state tournament. Union will play Gonzaga Prep in the regional round of state Saturday in Battle Ground.

Mr. Basketball is awarded to the top boys basketball player at all classifications in the state.

La Center’s Hunter Ecklund was named the Class A player of the year by the WIBCA.

Ecklund averaged 22.6 points a game for the Wildcats, the 1A District 4 champions.

Other classifcation winners were Jabe Mullin of Mount Si (4A), Tari Eason of Garfield (3A), Wyatt Walker of Burlington-Edison (2A) and AJ Floyd of Davenport (2B).
