An Amboy-area woman died Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision east of Woodland.

Lisa Griffith, 51, died instantly in the crash on the 2500 block of Northeast Cedar Creek Road, Clark County sheriff’s Sgt. Alex Schoening said. Fire, police and medical crews were dispatched to the scene at 3:53 p.m., and the road was shut down for roughly seven hours during the investigation.

Griffith was headed west on her way to work in a gold 2002 Honda Civic when her car drifted into the oncoming lane, Schoening said. She collided with a red 2016 Ford F-350 with a camper shell, driven by Daniel Heup, 54, of Ridgefield.

Heup was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and has been cooperative with the investigation, Schoening said. No arrests have been made, and no citations have been issued.

Schoening said the crash took place near a shallow curve in the road.

“It’s a logical place that, if someone isn’t turning the wheel into the curb, it could cause a collision,” he said.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
