One person was taken to the hospital after a multiple-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Northeast 78th Street and Sixth Avenue in Hazel Dell.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 2:05 p.m. A man driving a Ford F-150 was removed from the pickup by a bystander before emergency crews arrived and taken to a hospital, Clark County Fire District 6 Battalion Chief Bryan Baum said.

While driving the truck, the man suffered an apparent medical issue, causing him to strike a pole and a parked car, Baum said. The truck then crossed to the opposite side of 78th Street and hit more moving vehicles before slamming into a curb.

At least three other people were involved in the crash, Baum said.

The southbound and northbound Interstate 5 offramps to 78th Street were closed for over an hour after the crash, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
