The motorcyclist who suffered a serious leg injury Wednesday night in a crash in the Burton Ridge Neighborhood was a 12-year-old boy riding a motorized minibike.

Emergency personnel were dispatched at 7:06 p.m. to Northeast Heron Circle and Cranbrook Drive. There, they found a man on the ground after a compact SUV and a small motorcycle collided, Vancouver Fire spokesman Joe Spatz previously told The Columbian.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email Thursday that the motorcyclist was a child who failed to yield to a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old man.

The boy suffered a compound fracture to his left fibula and a gash that required stitches, Kapp said.

Traffic unit officers responded to the scene. They determined the adult driver was not impaired, Kapp said.

The was no information provided about citations.
