The driver who crashed into an auto wrecking yard off Fourth Plain Boulevard in east Vancouver Monday night died from his injuries, a Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman said.

The driver, Jeffrey A. Schwartz, 38, of Vancouver, went off the road and into a ditch near All American Classics, at 15209 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., around 8:20 p.m. Monday.

His Jeep flipped and rolled, crashing into the lot and sending debris through the business’s windows.

Schwartz was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but did not survive, police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

Kapp said the department’s traffic unit was investigating the crash, and officers had not yet determined its cause.
