Two people, including an alleged gang member wanted on a felony warrant, were arrested Thursday on multiple felony charges by detectives with the Safe Streets Task Force and the Southwest Washington Regional SWAT, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Authorities had been seeking Raul Martinez, an alleged member of the Sureno gang, and suspected he would be in possession of multiple firearms. In a press release issued early Saturday, police said Martinez was located and arrested after a brief foot pursuit and K-9 contact by the Vancouver Police Department’s Enzo.

A search warrant of Martinez’s vehicle yielded a sawed-off shotgun, police said.

Martinez was arrested on suspicion of possession of a methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a short barreled shotgun and escape community custody.

Authorities also arrested Virginia Renteria on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of possession of a controlled substance with additional charges pending.

Both were booked into the Clark County Jail, according to police.

Police said the Safe Streets Task Force had conducted an investigation on Martinez in December 2017 on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Martinez was out on bail from that case when he was arrested Thursday.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
