More than 5,000 Vancouver customers hit with power outage

Cause unclear; outage affecting Lincoln and Northwest neighborhoods, surrounding areas

More than 5,000 Vancouver customers went without power late Wednesday afternoon, after an outage struck around the Lincoln  and Northwest neighborhoods.

Clark County Public Utilities spokeswoman Erica Erland said an issue with Bonneville Power Administration equipment.

The outage hit around 5 p.m. Erland said it affected the Harney and Hibbert substations in the Lincoln and Northwest neighborhoods.

Erland said 5,295 customers had lost power, initially.

Crews switched affected customers to other substations during repairs, which led to brief outages for some customers in downtown Vancouver.

Power was restored around 6:15 p.m.
