Gas prices have climbed for six straight weeks and now stand at $3.01 on average in Vancouver, according to AAA Oregon/Idaho.

The auto club says gas prices will continue to climb due to high demand and lower supplies of crude oil.

Vancouver gas prices are up 4 cents from a week ago and 12 cents from a month ago. Portland, for comparison, stands at $2.91 per gallon, up 3 cents from last week and 8 cents from last month. Gas prices on the West Coast will continue to be among the most expensive in the country. Washington and Oregon placed fourth and fifth most expensive, respectively, beaten by Alaska, California and Hawaii. The national average is $2.60, up 2 cents from last week and 11 cents from last month.
