After being named a hipster mecca by one national publication, Vancouver is also suddenly a smart place to retire.

Forbes added the city to its annual Best Places to Retire list, alongside such cities as Pittsburgh; Athens, Ga.; Roanoke, Va.; Asheville, N.C., and more. Wenatchee also claimed a spot on the list. The list is not ranked.

Forbes picked cities by housing prices, cost-of-living, climate, tax laws and quality of life. The latter weighs everything from crime rates to walkability.

The business magazine said Vancouver stood out for its proximity to mountains and water, while benefiting from Washington’s lack of income tax.
