Letter: Support Battle Ground bond

By Allie Taylor, Vancouver
Published: April 22, 2018, 6:00am

Thanks to all of Battle Ground schools’ supporters in the past bond election. We need help again.

Laurin Middle School, slotted for replacement, has a vibrant culture; we’ve made great strides cultivating achievement amongst all students, overcoming obstacles.

Our building, however, doesn’t reflect our culture and commitment. Students spend upwards of 35 hours a week at Laurin, and teachers 45 hours or more. On rainy days we face leaky ceilings, flooded playgrounds, and a deluge that overtakes our covered walkways. Our doors are unsecured, and classrooms overcrowded.

Helping us rebuild Laurin’s physical foundation sends a message that what we do matters. Please vote “yes” on April 24.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
