Letter: Herrera Beutler must hear from us

Thanks for a clear picture about how the current tax proposal that just passed the House will not only just benefit the rich but put us another trillion dollars further in debt (“If the tax bill is so great, why is the GOP lying about it?” Nov. 17).

Unfortunately, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, was not one of the thirteen House Republicans who voted against the bill. Perhaps because of the fact that it was rushed to the floor without hearings in committee, or because the vote came too quickly.

Since this bill will impact the majority of us, while adding to the wealth of the already rich, Congresswoman Herrera Beutler needs to hear from us. A call or a letter for her to withdraw her support of this legislation will help.

She has shown her ability to listen to constituents by supporting the Global Partnership for Education. The GPE will help create a more peaceful and healthier world by helping to bring education to 25 million more students. So thanks for that Rep. Herrera Beutler; now, step up to protect us from tax reform that puts us in debt while making the super rich super duper rich.
