A Vancouver woman who was injured in an early Saturday morning crash at the intersection of Mill Plain and Fourth Plain boulevards, in west Vancouver, has died.

Erin Zhironkina, 18, died of her injuries following the crash, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

Zhironkina had been trapped in her car with serious injuries after hitting a traffic signal pole, according to the Vancouver Fire Department, which pulled her out.

She was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Her name was not released until Monday afternoon.

Kapp said the department traffic unit is investigating the crash, and it appeared excessive speed may have been a factor.
