Clark County – There’s less than one month left to submit nominations for Clark County’s 2017 First Citizen Award that recognizes a model citizen.

It’s “the county’s highest distinction of citizenship,” said the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington in a news release, and it’s awarded to someone who gives their time, resources and leadership to improve the community. Last year’s award went to Bob Knight, Clark College’s president and former commander of the Vancouver Barracks.

Nomination packets are due before 5 p.m., May 31 at the Community Foundation’s office at 610 Esther St., Suite 201. Details and forms can be found online at www.cfsww.org/our-community/first-citizen.

A selection committee of past First Citizens and other community leaders will review the nominations for the award, presented in the fall. Tickets will be available in August for the award presentation happening Nov. 9 at WareHouse ’23.
