The driver ejected and killed in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning on state Highway 14 in Camas was identified Friday as a Vancouver man.

Steven Krieger, 24, died of accidental blunt head and neck injuries, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

At about 3 a.m., Krieger was driving west on the highway in a blue 2003 Kia Rio four-door at high speed when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway to the right and struck the dirt embankment, according to the Washington State Patrol.

His vehicle then re-entered the roadway, rotated 180 degrees and struck the Jersey barrier, police reported.

Krieger was ejected and came to rest in the grass on the south side of the highway.

Police said that speed was a factor in the crash, though the Washington State Patrol is investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
