PeaceHealth is laying off 30 medical coders and will contract with a Texas-based company for the services.
The software company, T-System Inc., will handle emergency department diagnosis, procedure coding and charge capture, and observation charge capture processes. The services refer to how PeaceHealth codes, records and processes services sent out to payers and insurance companies for reimbursement.
PeaceHealth will use the company’s RevCycle+ services “to help optimize our revenue cycle operations through cutting-edge technology to provide increased automation and best-in-class services,” according to the health organization.
The 30 eliminated positions are throughout the PeaceHealth system of 10 hospitals in three states. PeaceHealth plans to retain several coding positions and will be filling four new positions for reviewers.
