A man from the Mill A area in Skamania County was killed in a car crash Friday morning, according to the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel were called to a crash on Cook-Underwood Road, near a Skamania County roads facility, around 3 a.m.

The sheriff’s office said investigators determined that John M. Salazar, 26, was heading west when he lost control of his Subaru Legacy.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck multiple trees before coming to a stop facing west in the eastbound lane. The crash partially ejected Salazar from his vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office, and he died at the scene.

The investigation was ongoing, and an autopsy was pending, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s office added excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash.
