Letter: Constituents deserve better

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler doesn’t get it. Congress is now in recess. Has she taken advantage of this time to schedule any town hall meetings, something her constituents have been screaming for? No.

She has again resorted to a telephone town hall meeting, which doesn’t qualify as a town hall at all. It’s a sanitized, scripted faux town hall. It appears that she got a little high on her “no” vote on repealing Obamacare. When she suspected that the vote would be pulled, she put out a “courageous” statement saying she’d vote against it. But she never had to really vote.

Now, she’s pulling one over on her constituents by not meeting with them during the long Easter recess. She should quit running from her constituents. They deserve some face-to-face straight talk from her.
