LEAVENWORTH — Authorities have recovered the body of a Portland man who went missing last fall during a climb of Colchuck Peak.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and a rescue team recovered the body of Adam Ochshorn from below the west buttress on Friday.

Sheriff Brian Burnett said Ochshorn’s family in New York and friends in Oregon have been notified.

The experienced climber had been missing since Nov. 29 when he failed to return from a solo climb.

Search teams located his body Monday, but it was difficult to reach. The teams decided the best way to reach the body, located on a steep 7,100-foot slope, was to use a Huey helicopter.

The larger aircraft allowed them to place all ground personnel near the body in one mission.
