Letter: Some supporters are deplorable

Hillary Clinton has taken a lot of heat for saying 50 percent of Donald Trump’s voters are in a “basket of deplorables” of racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamaphobic people that are attracted by his rhetoric.

The things that come out of this guy’s mouth are deplorable. In my mind, that figure is high, but it is true for many of his ardent supporters. You see them at his rallies chanting “He’s a Muslim,” when Trump mentions President Obama. I personally know a Trump fanatic who uses the n-word constantly when referring to the president.

Many Trump supporters think the president is not a citizen and is a Muslim. Unfortunately, these low-life people are out there, and denying it is putting blinders on. Trump, with his rhetoric, has flamed the fire for these people to crawl out from the rocks they were living under. David Duke, the former Ku Klux Klan leader, loves Trump. They are not America.

Yes, it’s there. We all know it but we fail to say it. Hillary Clinton had the guts to put it out there. The vast majority of Trump supporters are good people who want change in government policies toward immigration, trade and so on. Too bad the others are fed on bigotry and have found a home.
