Letter: Herrera Beutler pays attention

I have been impressed by the attention Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, continues to pay to her constituents, demonstrated most recently in the Aug. 26 story “Panel paints grim picture about opioids,” regarding opioid abuse.

There is hardly a family that hasn’t been touched by opioid addiction in some way, and it’s going to take a concerted effort from the federal government on down to the local level to fight it.

It’s easy for members of Congress to take the needs of those they represent for granted after they are reelected. Herrera Beutler should be commended for continuing to listen, learn and work for the people on an issue that can literally end lives.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
