Week 6 fall sports prep athlete of the week nominees

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian fall sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Oct. 15.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

ELLEN BURBANK, SKYVIEW CROSS COUNTRY: Burbank was the top local finisher at the Portland Meadows Invitational, placing fifth in 19:16.

YACINE GUERMALI, CAMAS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Guermali won the George Fox XC Classic in Brooke, Ore., in 15:58.

KARA NOFTSKER, COLUMBIA RIVER SWIMMING: Noftsker won the 50 free and 100 freestyle, posting 2A state qualifying times in both events.

SOEREN SERVE, WASHOUGAL TENNIS: Serve was the runner-up in singles in the 2A sub-district tournament in Longview.

SPENCER TIBBITS, FORT VANCOUVER GOLF: Tibbits shot 12-under for 36 holes to win the 3A district title by 25 shots.
