VANCOUVER – The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program seeks volunteers to help people in Clark and Skamania counties prepare their tax forms ahead of the April 17 deadline.

Volunteers don’t need to be AARP members or retirees, and varying levels of tax experience are welcome, the foundation said in press release. The foundation is particularly looking for bilingual volunteers to help with a rising number of Spanish-speaking taxpayers.

Volunteers will complete tax preparation training and gain IRS certification before working with taxpayers. Tax season starts Jan. 28, 2017.

Last year, more than 60 local volunteers helped over 3,000 taxpayers in Clark and Skamania counties. There were 35,000 Tax-Aide volunteers nationwide.
