A compressed natural gas station from fuel company Love’s Family of Companies has opened at 4520 N.W. Fruit Valley Road.

According to the Alternative Fuels Data Center, the station is the first in the Portland-metro area to offer compressed natural gas. The company is opening the station, called Trillum CNG, in conjunction with a location in Aberdeen, Md., with another station planned for Pennsylvania.

In a statement, the Oklahoma-based company said the Fruit Valley station is designed to meet the needs of fleet vehicles with Matheson Postal Services and PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division.

The Honda Civic GX was the only factory-built, compressed natural gas car available to the general public before it was discontinued in 2015. The automaker eliminated its hybrid model, as well.
