An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday in Clark County Superior Court for a Vancouver man accused of trying to pay a 16-year-old boy for sex.

Michael S. Hanley, 46, was summoned to appear in Superior Court on a charge of commercial sex abuse of a minor, but Hanley did not show. Judge Scott Collier authorized a warrant on the prosecution’s request.

On Dec. 10, the boy reported to police that a man, identified in court records as Hanley, had molested him inside the man’s residence in the Landover-Sharmel neighborhood, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The boy told a forensic interviewer that he and Hanley were friends, and he often stayed the night at Hanley’s residence. He said Hanley would give him alcohol to drink, the affidavit states.

On one occasion, Hanley allegedly offered to pay the boy for sex, but the boy refused and stopped spending time with Hanley, court records said.

Hanley reportedly moved away from that residence, and authorities have been unable to determine his whereabouts, according to court documents.
