Save the Date: Spring events sprinkled all over calendar

Tour the British Isles with English, Irish, Scottish and Celtic music in the spring concert by the Vancouver USA Singers. Concert highlights include beloved folk song “Greensleeves,” the song and poem “A Red, Red Rose,” made famous by Robert Burns, and “Requiem” by British composer John Rutter. The concert begins at 7 tonight and 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main St., Vancouver. St. Paddy’s for Kids combines Irish green with spring green in this themed activity fair for children and families to welcome the spring planting season. Participants can visit hands-on stations, take part in arts and crafts, and fill the activities passport. St. John Lutheran Church will get an early jump on Easter with its “Easter E-G-G-stravaganza,” as children in fifth grade and younger are invited to hunt down plastic eggs with candy in Koinonia Hall. Plan a spring trip to the Columbia River Gorge. The Maryhill Museum of Art reopens for the season on Tuesday and will host an opening celebration on March 19, with tours of the collections and newest acquisitions. Highlights include “George E. Muehleck, Jr. International Chess Sets Gallery,” featuring more than 80 chess boards and sets, and “The Big Painting Show,” which showcases two dozen works that are seldom shown because of their unusual size. Vancouver Farmers Market will return with the start of spring on March 19. More than 150 regional vendors participate throughout the season, offering locally grown produce, baked goods, flowers, food and crafts. Vancouver Spring Brewfest will feature a mix of seasonal beers and college basketball with free throw contests, broadcasts of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and food vendors. The city of Washougal will host a community EGGstravaganza from 3 to 5 p.m. March 23 at Reflection Plaza, 1703 Main St., Washougal.
