Letter: Numbers reveal gun violence

Everyone is rightfully upset by the horrible shooting in Orlando, Fla., and should be. I couldn’t find totals to date on all shootings in 2016 but out of the 164 days so far, we have had 133 mass shootings. This is one-third of the world’s mass shootings. Shameful. Then I did some research and came up with some figures from 2015 that should astound one and all.

In 2015, 13,286 people were killed, 28,819 were wounded, in the USA. This includes mass shootings but not suicides by guns. This is according to Gun Violence Archive and reported by the BBC news media.

Isn’t it past time that we get serious about gun control in this country? We, as a nation, need to put our differences aside and solve this problem.
