St. Paul, Minn. – Police arrested more than two dozen people Tuesday while trying to reopen the street in front of the governor’s mansion in St. Paul, where protesters have been demonstrating over the shooting death of a black man by a suburban police officer nearly three weeks ago.
Twenty-six adults were arrested on charges ranging from disorderly conduct to unlawful assembly to public nuisance, St. Paul police spokesman Steve Linders said. A juvenile also was arrested, he said.
Demonstrators have been camping outside the governor’s residence since July 7, a day after Philando Castile was shot and killed by a St. Anthony police officer during a traffic stop.
