C-Tran seeks comment on service change plan

Some big changes could be coming to a number of bus routes throughout Vancouver, and C-Tran wants to know what the public thinks about the proposals.

The transit agency is considering modifications to 11 routes, has drawn up four possible new ones and is considering dropping two others. Most of the current service is retained, just served differently. The agency wants to maximize service where demand is highest and reach new areas.

The routes that could be affected are Routes 2, 3, 4, 7, 19, 25, 37, 38, 39, 44, 72, 78 and 80. Also on the horizon is the opening of The Vine, the bus rapid transit system, later this year.

The public is invited to attend one or more of the following meetings and discuss the proposed changes:

• Feb. 4: Presentation to Fruit Valley Neighborhood Association, 7 to 8 p.m., Fruit Valley Community Center, 3200 Fruit Valley Road, Vancouver.

• Feb. 10 : Open house meeting, 4 to 6 p.m., Fisher’s Landing Transit Center, second floor, 3510 S.E. 164th Ave., Vancouver.

• March 16: Open house meeting, 4 to 6 p.m., Vancouver Community Library, Klickitat Room, 901 C St., Vancouver.

• March 30: Open house meeting, 4 to 5:45 p.m., Three Creeks Community Library, Community Room, 800 N.E. Tenney Road, Vancouver.

• April 12: Public hearing at C-TRAN Board of Directors meeting, 5:30 p.m., Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St., Vancouver.

Any changes will take effect in September.
