Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following and other opportunities, call 360-735-3683.

• Empower Up seeks help with computer repair, customer service, deconstruction and e-commerce.

• Evergreen Public Schools seeks volunteer help as literacy and math tutors in the classrooms, as well as in the Art Discovery and Lunch Buddy programs.

• School of Piano Technology for the Blind seeks drivers and substitute drivers to drive blind piano tuners to job sites. Student mentors also are needed to work with first-year students.

• Share seeks help preparing and serving meals. Individual people and groups are welcome.

• Vancouver Public Schools is looking for literacy and math tutors to help in the classrooms, in the Food Pantry at Marshall Elementary School, with the Homework Club at Minnehaha Elementary School, and in the Lunch Buddy program.

• West Columbia Gorge Humane Society seeks help in the cat shelter and dog kennel, with cleaning and laundry, and volunteers to socialize, groom and interact with the animals.

The Clark County councilors seek to fill a position on the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board by a person with intellectual or developmental disabilities. A person familiar with self-advocacy is preferred. The board meets at 5:15 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every other month at the Center for Community Health, Conference Room C-210, 1601 E. The city of Vancouver seeks to fill one full-term vacancy on the Parking Advisory Committee. Committee members must be either city residents or property owners, business owners, or an officer or partner in a business downtown. The committee meets at 7:30 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month or as scheduled. Applications are at www.cityofvancouver.us/boards. Clark Public Utilities’ StreamTeam seeks volunteers at native plant potting events from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 30, Feb. 20, March 5 and 12 at CPU’s nursery in Orchards. AmeriCorps volunteers and trained Stream Stewards will lead volunteer teams. Tools and training will be provided.
