Letter: Disclosure unfair to accused

By Cheryl Thomas, VANCOUVER
Published: January 25, 2016, 6:00am

The Jan. 16 story “Church identifies sex offenders,” regarding the 11 priests identified by the Seattle Archdiocese, was appalling. The Columbian identified the priests who were from Vancouver, instead of letting the public log onto SeattleArchdiocese.org for the list.

It is important to report to the Archdiocese any abuse from a priest, but since none went to trial, how do we know that they were really guilty and how can the deceased or their families defend themselves against these allegations?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
