BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) — The Beaverton Police Department has received a $150,000 grant to begin outfitting its officers with body cameras.
KOIN-TV reports that authorities said in a release that the two-year grant from the U.S. Department of Justice will allow the Beaverton department to be a pilot program for other law enforcement agencies.
The department plans to purchase 100 cameras.
Beaverton police are opening up their body camera program to public comment. Open houses at the Beaverton Police Department are set for Jan. 21 and Feb. 18.
