Letter: Democratic process restored

By Brett Hockley, Vancouver

For whom does the bell toll, it tolls for you, Councilor David Madore. His comment at the Jan. 5 Clark County council meeting that he was just flabbergasted at the actions to repeal the eight resolutions he and Councilor Tom Mielke rammed through the council at the last moment before the seating of the new five-member council only serves to again show that Madore has no understanding of a democratic process.

He asked the question at the meeting if the actions taken to repeal his resolutions was supposed to be fixing dysfunctional government? The answer is simply “yes.” It brings us back to a full council of elected officials being able to consider, discuss, take comments and then take action representing their constituents. That would be a fairly well recognized way for government to function in a normal manner.
