Letter: Bipartisan legislation aids reform

By Willie Dickerson, Snohomish
Published: February 24, 2016, 6:00am

Reading the Feb. 17 story “GOP’s No. 2 senator leaves open possibility of hearing,” it would seem from the news that the Democrats and the Republicans never agree. Fortunately, the Reach Every Mother and Child Act (S. 1911 and H.R. 3706) is co-sponsored by both parties.

This life-saving legislation targets ending the preventable deaths of millions of mothers and children in our world. Who wouldn’t want to save lives? This legislation goes further and puts reforms into law to make our development aid more efficient. So let’s ask our representatives to pass this bill that makes a difference, which they agree it is important because it saves lives.
